Fealty, Fiscal Cliff, and Grover

So let me get this straight- hiding behind a flag waving, Bible thumping facade,  members of the GOP have sworn an oath of fealty to Grover Norquist. This oath apparently over rides the oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States.

Looks like the GOP is busy trying to destroy the economy- a classic self fulfilling prophesy .

Again and still

Irritations just at a simmer, but who can be irritated when the folks at NASA and the JPL landed Curiosity on MARS!!

I mean- what a Rube Goldberg arrangement for landing- a kudo and another.... brilliant.

Then I read about Louisiana and Jindal and the bone headed stuff they are teaching, like
"Bible-believing Christians cannot accept any evolutionary interpretation. Dinosaurs and humans were definitely on the earth at the same time and may have even lived side by side within the past few thousand years."

This is from a school text book. Really.

Uhhh.... I don't think any if them will be designing a Mars Lander any time soon.

Not Irritated Today

Today I am thankful, rather than irritated. Dealing with amazing, helpful, kind, compassionate RN's, CNA's, Food Service folks, Housekeeping, and everyone else I missed at St. Joseph's Hospital in Asheville. Restores my faith in human kind. Of course, then I see those idiots in the House of Representatives waving their manhoods around trying to repeal Obamacare. Pure politics, zero ethics, zero thought. Politica at its worst.

Whose Rights?

Amazing- the individual mandate was upheld. While I am happy with that, single payer was always my wish.

I must say- the right wingers keep saying that my health care is a States Rights issue.

WTF???

How can that be?

Then, again, they think that basic human rights (a.k.a. slavery) is a States Rights issue.

Just Wondering

I am sometimes left speechless at what the Republican party is doing- I mean I know they create their own reality, but at some point, actual, real, poke it with a stick reality is bound to become obvious.
Because they want to make everything a fight, and apparently have no memory, it makes it confusing- are they for or against this now? (though you can pretty much figure what they will be against by what BHO proposes- even if it was a cornerstone of their platform a few years ago, if Obama is for it, they're agin' it.)

Latest oddity- pushing school text books claiming the Lock Ness monster is real.

Meanwhile, the real, warming world is intruding with floods, fires and drought. Stick that in you ROI, figure it in the bottom line.

Me, the person

I find it somewhat symptomatic that the very concept of "We, the people" is now considered "socialist". "E Pluribus unum" is communist. The very idea of doing something for the common good is somehow un-American. -- C

What Bites?

So, thanks to virtually unlimited money, the next US presidential election is being fought out and opinions being formed in 30 second sound bites.

Hello..... 10 seconds to set up a paper tiger problem, 10 seconds to tear it down with an equally false solution, and 10 seconds to come up with a visceral, catchy phrase- which has little or no relation to reality.

Where did they go...

I blame myself for not seeing it coming- I just realized that most (if not all) of the Hi-Fi brands (does that date me? in this mp3 world, does anyone even remember the concept of "High Fidelity"?) of my youth are just names now- I mean names like Jensen, Advent, Harman Kardon...  companies buying the name, off shoring the manufacturing.....

Sheesh...
"I'm feeling kind of peckish today."
